I know it all depends on what you pay for the new car, but what is the "buy up" cost you guys are paying when going from the 06 vert to the 08vert?
Keith,Roughly I would say for a $80,000 2008, you are looking at a $30,000+/- (give or take a few thousand) difference without taxes.
I did not trade in my 2006 vert for my 2006 vert. My local dealer gave me a the same deal on both cars so in the end I ended paying about the same for the 2008 as I did for the 2006.

Rich, can you give a short description of the differences of the two cars? Does the 08 handle better? We all know about the power increase(which is very nice), but does it handle any better? Brake any better?

if its just the tires than it made the whole car ride diffrently than the 06 but it does not feel like anything like my 06 did.cabin heat is less and also eng oil temp,and engine temp are 20 degrees cooler than my 06,just overall a better built car,im just loving itWould you say that the difference is largely due to the change to the softer rubber of the PS2s?
Wasn't the cabin heat issue addressed in the '08 by a change in the exhaust system that also change the exhaust note?
Quick answer on the tires ----------only part of the equation for ride and handling. The Snake Engineers went to great extremes to modify the suspension to make it more sutle, better steering input, less wandering, etc. . The results are fantastic and the tires are part of the entire picture. Think tuned suspension , with tires designed for such ( the new PS2 is Viper specific and different than the ones available prior ).
True but the suspension components for the non ACR 08 are the same components used on the Gen III. As you know, the suspension on each generation has been tuned for the OEM tires used and visa versa. If someone really needs and wants a great suspension, they need to put on Eibachs and Motons and have the car corner balanced by Mark J and his merry men.
i would get the ps2 tires and go from there that would make a huge diffrence.you need to drive the 08 and see what all the talk is about.
You are so far off on both ends of the deal that it's not even worth discussing. Just flat wrong. Anybody that uses you as an authority needs to know that you are not in the car business and and that you are only guessing at prices.
Bob;
When you mean improved, what are you talking about? The things I dis-like about my factory 06' Coupe set-up are that it is about 1 inch to 1.5 inches too high all around, but more so, it is so damn bouncy. Too stiff at times and at times it feels just right (at 80+ mph). We have all concrete roads in this part of Colorado and it just hops along like a rabbit. It is almost sickening. Does the change to PS2s take that hop out?
Do the change to Motons mostly take that hop out, BUT leave a comfortable boulevard cruiser type of ride IF set up as such. I don't want to go Motons and then feel ever single vibration and crack in the road. I am not a track guy. Moton's can be set up to provide a softer ride, if that is desired, correct?
Despite what people think, I took the advise of many on this board with the upgraded engine and tranny mounts and stand by my experience that it was the absolutle worse mod ever, for someone who wants a comfortable ride and does not track their car. If Motons are just for making it stiff as a board, then obviously they are not for me. However I have to get the hop out of my suspension for normal driving. I have seriously considered Motons, but need to understand the advice people are giving, Street or Track?
Curious what you mean by improved? I need to ride with someone with an 08' to see what the set-up is like. Maybe it is just the roads and that is all there is to it?
please post pics of your new ssgI just traded my 06' Blue/White FE Coupe (with 4500 miles) for an 08' SSG/Black Vert this evening. The difference was an even $30,000, speaking of which. The SSG stickered at $93,***, so all in all, I think it was a fair deal (especially factoring in the tax savings of trading).
Lee--I don't know what others have paid, but Keith is not too far off on the 30,000 plus or minus price difference. If I hadn't ordered the stripes, he was right on the money.
