ACR rear shock shaft chipped chrome....

Did my Tom's 40mm's, and when cleaning up things, I noticed that one of the rear
CompDynamic shocks have flaked the chrome and has a little pit of rust halfway up the travel. Not leaking, but it will at some point when it boogers the seal.
Thinking of shreading it this winter, but probably try to find a nice used one instead of trying to rechrome. Crappy iphone pic...

Does it actually travel far enough to cross the seal? If not I would not sweat it for now.

A little silver solder and polish might be enough to prevent the seal from getting worn and causing a leak. You don't need to do the repair for any strength, only the surface finish, so a machine shop or perhaps even a jeweler might do it.
