Event: Seven Days Battles Tour (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Days_Battles for background information on the Seven Days Battles (June 25 to July 1, 1862))

We will have a historian with us on the cruise who will make the battlefields come alive. We will follow in the footsteps of General Robert E. Lee and his Lieutenants in their first campaign together as they defeat the Army of the Potomac. We will start at Chickahominy Bluffs and follow the Confederate forces thru their victories and blunders to the final battle of the campaign at Malvern Hill. We will drive along country roads to enjoy the scenery and learn of the beginnings of one of the most famous beloved Generals and Armies in military history.

We can take 20 cars on the tour.

Agenda:
  • Various departure times – 10:30 AM arrival: cruise to Zip Corvette Restoration shop (will try to coordinate cruises from Northern VA and Tidewater area to Zip)
  • 10:30-11:00 AM: tour the Zip Corvette Restoration shop
  • 11:00 – 4:00 AM: cruise to various battlefield sites of the Seven Days Battles.

Tour Guide: Our tour guide will be George L. Fickett Jr., Bermuda Hundred Campaign Historian. He is well versed in most Civil War Campaigns and has traveled to most of the major battlefields in the U.S. He has been interested in Civil War history for over 50 years. He was a member of Co. B 20th Maine, Richmond Civil War Roundtable and is a volunteer for the Richmond National Battlefield Park. He has received many awards for preservation and has been written about in Blue & Gray, and Civil War Times Illustrated.

He is also a car guy and has, I believe, a 1982 Corvette.

The weather is not looking real good for Saturday. Below is the forecast for Richmond:

Saturday: Occasional showers possible. Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid 50s.

This is a rain or shine event so feel free to bring your daily driver in the event of rain.
