cd player stereo issue in SRT

So after firing up the viper for the first time, I noticed my stereo's CD player doesn't seem to work. I have the standard 2004 6 CD changer stereo- not the GPS in the newer models. AM/FM works fine, but the CD player won't even register when I press mode... the CD player also seems to be cycling through the CD's or maybe is jamming up- either way it is making some noise.

After doing some quick searches, my assumption that the stock head unit is a POS was confirmed. So- is there a way to fix this myself or would it just make more sense to purchase a used one or just upgrade the thing all together?

Thanks in advance for the help!

CHeck the underhood fusebox...sometimes the fuse is pulled UP for shipment or storage.

Used ones are readily avail and cheap

yup check the fuse box as well as in the back of the unit, some have fuses on the radio themselves that can be pulled and replaces, its unlikely a fuse if its getting power or making noises but it does not hurt to check just in case
