Differential Help Needed!

Here's the dealio:

1. My differential is going, going, almost gone.
2. I need to replace it.
3. I have a 2001 GTS, with mods that have it at about 500hp.
4. I don't know much at all about cars (except that I love driving them).

So... I need help!

1. Where is the best place to get one?
2. Does new vs. refurb (if there is such a thing) make a difference?
3. Can an exisiting one be repaired? Is it worth it?
4. What kind of damage (cost) can I expect for parts and labor?

You can have the diff out of my '97 GTS if you pay shipping. I upgraded mine to a Quaife last year. It has 20K miles on it.

Mine started to whine more and more, eventually making grinding noises while coasting. I know it goin goin, going, gone... The whole process took about 2000 miles from first whine to last grind.
I got used one from Paul Sharf (Don Sharf Automotive) , it was $450, plus shipping. supposely from a 11.000 mile car.

You could in most cases service or repair the old one. I bought a spare one, which is on the car now while I can take the old one to a good shop. In my case, even if the car was moving, I'm looking at complete rebuilt + gears.

Do you watn some 3.73's for the 1993 Gen I? Brand new Mopar gear set, never go tto install them.

It was kind of a joke. In response to the fact there's a free rear end being offered, that is about 45 minutes from casa Dave. My car has no rear end issues, other that a faulty gas tank. For now, I just keep filling it.
