The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 protects you. You can add any legal parts to your car that you want. They have to be able to show that the damage/failure was caused by the part(s) installed on your car; otherwise they cannot refuse warranty work on what they "assume" or "think" may have happened.

They cannot tell you nor make you put certain parts on your car in order to have a valid warranty. If they were to do that, they would have to supply the parts for free.
