Gen I or Gen II

Can anyone tell me if my 96 GTS has a Gen I or Gen II engine? It was built on 12/12/96. Thanks

Bruce is correct. All GTS's built have the Gen II engine (450 hp)

Kurt, thanks. Is that 450 at the rear wheels or flywheel? Also how much torque at the rear wheels. Da_n I have million questions and you guys have all the answers. Again thanks to all.

Horsepower is always quoted at the flywheel, as is torque, which is 490 ft/lb.

01bee is correct. Of course this is for a stock Viper (is there such a thing anymore?!) You could dyno your 96 GTS and get a answer if you wish to know specific numbers for you car (dyno number will be given in RWHP). Enjoy!!
