Good write up for diff removal??

It is pretty simple with a lift:

1. Jack the rear of the car up so the rear wheels are off the lift.

2.Remove drive shaft and the remove the bolts on the two half shafts. Push in the half shafts towards the outside. If they do not go in they are twisted. Rotate the wheels to get a good position on the strap bolts.

3. Remove the two long vertical bolts that hold the diff up.

4. Remove the two bolts on the differential arms. This is probably the hardest part of the removal. I believe you have to retorque them to 150 ft lbs.

5. Depending on what exhaust you have you might have to loosen or drop the rear pipes.

6. Lift one arm up and the rotate the other one down and it should drop out. It probably weighs about 80 lbs and it is awkward.

Its a good idea to put some masking tape around the u-joint cups so they do not fall off. Also make sure you replace all the axle straps and bolts, they are one time use.
