I just Recently Purchased a New Porsche GT-3 Cup car for racing, It was a tough choice between a Competition Coupe, Ferrari Challange car and the Porsche GT-3.

Competion Coupe, there wasn't much known about the car because it was new. There was also a wait list that I was not willing to wait for, as far as support not sure about parts.

Ferrari Challenge very expensive to run, I was very close to buying a Challenge Car but found out there was very little support for racing.

Porsche, I have owned many Porsche's mostly Turbos. There is alot of support for these cars, Porsche has it's own Motorsport division in Noth America to support racing (www.porschemotorsport.com). You order your GT-3 direct from Porsche Motortsport then they fly it in on a car pallet. You drive it off the pallet at the airport and into your trailer and away you go. Presently we have the car apart because of an accident at Road America, but not before setting a track record in a GT-3. We also ran 3 seconds faster than a Viper GTS at Road America, we ran a 2.25.9 not bad far the first time out in the car. The Porsche is a joy to drive.

The Comp Coupe is a better looking car with more power, but the Porsche has too much support and easy to work on.

Here's another one, and who's that handsome devil next to Denis in the backround? This car really is amazing, much like the driver. We hope to do great things with it.

Those GT3s are fast. I run up against one all the time and just wave him by. From the looks of things couldn't you get all three? :)

Ferrari Challenge is 25K to 30K PER RACE!!! That's nuts. Some Ferrari folks expressed an interest in a more reasonably priced venue and I told them about ViperDays. Sure would be fun to have a Viper-Ferrari Series.

Have fun with that Porsche, I still like the feel of the big cubes though.

Nice looking race car. Congrats!

We know pricing on the Comp Coupe, how do the prices on the GT3 Cup Car and the 360 Challenge compare ?

N/A is correct (3.6L), did anyone notice in the second picture the stature of the car. Look real close at the ground and the tires. Especially the rear tire. Its not an illusion.

Nice lookin' car, good luck in future races. 2:25.9 is a decent time but as a point of reference PMUM turned a 2:23.62 in a street legal Viper GTS on DOT tires. In his Comp Coupe he is an average of 4 seconds faster then his GTS on most tracks so that would put him in the 2:19s at Road America, no flame, just an observation :)

Are you on drugs?? Holy boxy-looking back end Batman!

I think the CC is a better looking car. I've never been a fan of Porsche's "Volkswagon" look. Still a great car and the newer ones are a little more sleek but they definitely look "Porsche." Not a bad thing if you like that look.

Hey Chuck

No doubt there's no substitue cubic inches, if I could put a V-10 in the GT-3 I would be there.

Great performance car but really comes up short in the style department for me. Now that 360 Modena ....... gimme.

Thanks Stephan

The price for the GT-3 is about $115,000.00 plus $10,000.00 shipping and customs. The Ferrari Challenge car was $125,000.00 for a used 02 car with low hours.

What was the price on the Comp Coupe?

I currently have a HSR racing license and a SCCA racing License.

We are are currently racing in the USA GT Championship and need to attend a PCA school to be certified by PCA. They will not issue me a license until they see me drive.

The GT3-Cup car makes about 375HP, and 280ft-lbs of torque (roughly off the top of my head), car wieghs 2750lbs, 13.8in front rotors with porsche 6 piston calipers, 13in rear rotors with 4 piston calipers. Brake ducts up front, built in air jacks (we use nitrogen), top speed right at 200mph given enough room. If I can think of anything else I'll let ya know. Orif you want to know something else just ask.

SoCal Rebell,
No disrespect intended to anyone or trying to take anything away from anyone here, but PMUM is basically a pro driver (in fact he may be licensed as a pro driver, SCC said something about it in the USCC last year when he won). Butch has put a total of 150miles on the car, so 4 miles a lap at RA, 6 lap sessions and 6 sessions later is 144 miles. As you can see, all the mile are from the first event. Butch was consistantly getting faster every session, and the weather was not ideal (little too cool to keep heat in tires). I have no doubt the porsche will drop down more as Butch learns to drive it better, and we get past the full break in of the car (no pun inteaded). PMUM is a great driver and I hope we all get to see a contest one day of these 2 tyes of cars head to head with 2 great drivers behind the wheel. I bet they will be very evenly matched.

On paper, you would think the Comp Coupe would have a distinct advantage due to power/weight and torque curve of the big V10. Doesn't seem to be any week point on the Comp. Coupe (on paper). Power, braking, handeling, etc... Although the track may tell a different story. So when will these cars race one another?

BTW - The new Porsche GT3 (street car) has my interest. I would love to test drive one of those bad boys and compare to the Viper. Why the magazines don't, who knows. Instead, they put the Viper against $250K Lambo's and Merc. AMG's. Idiots.......

Hello Butch, the Comp Coupe was initially priced at 100k for the first batch of orders but with options like ( air jacks, track prep, paint, etc. ) it was probably close to 120k or more. The second and third batch is supposed to go up even more.

Does the GT3 Cup have options from the factory too or do you have to go aftermarket? It looks like the price you quote is pretty competitive with the CC.
