Anyone doing the Gumball 3000 from the VCA?

I hear its a wopping $8500 to join and that is if you get picked. I believe there is a huge wait list?

I have been accepted but have not yet paid the fees. Not sure if I can do it because of scheduling conflicts and I am a bit worried about the weather since my car is an RT.
