Any suggestions on what helment to get and where to get it?

I'll need it for drag racing, autocross, road racing events
and possibly viper days.

I know to get a SA2000 helment, but is an open face helment ok?

Any suggestions on what helment to get and where to get it?

After doing a search, I have more questions that answers.

Closed face with a shield is best for the track because they usually require you to run windows down. At 80+ mph, lots of stuff goes blowing around in the cockpit and can get in your eyes. If the unthinkable happens and your airbag doesn't work, you won't be eating your steering wheel.

I would hate to see some people spend the money on a helmet
they are only going to use one time. Even though I'm not
signed up to race, I will bring a full-faced Snell-85 helmet for
anyone interested. I have a very large brain, so for me,
I have to go with the *** large size. If you fit in that
category, let me know. I think it's a Simpson.

I've found Racer Wholesale (www.racerwholesale.com) to consistently have the best prices.

As for style of helmet, that's a very personal choice. My only suggestion is that if you go for a full face, devise some sort of strategy for eye protection when running without the face shield. I've tried Fog City, Rainx, spit, potatos, etc., and in any kind of humidity, my full face shield would fog up. Consequently, I switched to a Simpson LX Plus (since discontinued), essentially an open face helmet with chin bar. I also prefer the additional peripheral vision offered by the open face design.
