Finally figured out my free hosting so I could post pictures. Here is the pic everyone has been looking for of the odd look of the bead-to-rim interface on the Kumho V700 tire.

I think they're playing games with the mold inserts for the tire size. It looks to me like the _design_ rim width for that tire is probably a 12.0. The _maximum_ rim width is probably 13.0, which gives them a 335 section width.

That does not look good. Or is it just the angle of the picture?

Well, I suppose you're largely protected against curb rash on your tires. :smirk:

No sir....I don't like it!

And yeah, I would much rather "find" the curb with tire and not the wheel.

Looks are one thing, but traction is another. If you want looks these are not the tire for you. If you want to put the power down...

So do they fit or not? I'm a little confused. Pic doesn't make it look like they'd hold...

They fit fine. They just do not have a bunch of extra rubber for rim protection like a normal street tire. And man do they hook up. Even with my low power car I feel bad for the half-shafts.

Is this how everyone's Kumho V700s fit on the 18 inch rims? Thanks for the pictures Mike...

Boy do they hook ......they look different because of the extra rubber that Pilots have. People are sadly mistaken about the extra rubber...... if you are driving VERY VERY slow as in parking they will help with curb rash. But if you are driving fast and hit the curb it is USELESS.

If some one that worried about hitting the curb ...... YOU ARE AN IDIOT AND YOUR VIPER SHOULD TAKEN FROM YOU AND GIVEN TO SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE A VIPER!

Traction is more of a safety concern and a fun issue ..... than running into curbs and curb rash.

It is just my take...... I like putting my power to the street than sliding all over the place.

Don't you hate it when you have your mind made up to go one direction with something, then new data comes in and muddies up the picture?

Performance or Poser? Poser or Performance? That is the question.

I agree with Cudaman. If you are constantly hitting curbs, no Viper for you. And more importantly, stock Pilots are a MAJOR safety concern.

Anything in-between Pilots and Kumho's? Probably not.

Perhaps the Pilot Cup Sports. I think they are a bit harder than the V700 and have a bead protector. It is the stock tire on the Euro-only BMW M3 CSL. Twice as expensive as the Kumhos though.
