The rear view mirror is a little small to begin with, and I'd like to replace it with a slightly larger one while at the same time adding homelink for the garage opener. I don't want to run any batteries but I can't find a mirror that's battery based. Are there any 12V wires underneath the headliner I can tap into if I had to? I'm thinking the overhead lights in the headliner.

Anyone done a similar upgrade?

Yes, you can tap into the wiring for the two small dome lights for this. I did this for my radar detector. Good luck.

If you don't feel like messing with the headliner, you can get a homlink unit and put it in the dash. I then ran wires to some buttons that I put in the ash tray. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Also, if you are replacing the mirror, if you remove it completely from the glass, I recommend when you reattach it move the attachment point up about an inch. Makes a huge difference in being able to see through a turn.
