Hood Opening

The lack of engine compartment access due to the hood open position is a pain, is there a trick that will allow the hood to open farther (short of removing it)?
If not do most of you remove the hood for major projects like cylinder head removal?

I think most will agree removing the hood is the easiest.

I had the hood off of mine last week. It is actually pretty simple, just four bolts, but you need at least two people.
