Hello,

Got my 96 GTS last week. 1st mod, K & N and smooth tubes. When reading the "how to" on installing the K & Ns and I noticed there are modifications needed to the air box to make the filters fit. However, I also noticed the post applies to 92-95 Gen 1 engines. Can someone clarify if this is also true on my 96 before the weekend, would like to do the install then.

Thanks,

It's true for all of them, I believe. I have them on my 96, but came that way so I don't know if it was modified or not. I suspect that it was, b/c it's very hard to get the right fit even now.

Put some tape on the airbox clips. If one pops off, you still have the clip and you can ake modifications from there if needed.

There shouldn't be any modification needed on your car to do K&N's and Smooth Tubes.

I installed K & N's on a 95 Saturday. No modifications but I will keep checking the clips just to be sure.
