Saw this item while web surfacing yesterday. They are activated by tire motion and automatically shut off after 12 seconds of no movement. Batteries last 200 hr, price from $9 to $23 per pair. Thought it was mega-silly then read they have a blue colored light which might look different with my blue/white stripe '97. Other colors are red, yelow, green, & red/white/blue combo (white & purple colors are also listed in the on-line purchasing section, which unfortunately is linked through JC Whitney).

Obvious problems - weight may muck up tire balance & higher theft potential, but as I use my GTS as a weekend car it should not be an issue. Potential safety benefit - hopefully late night drivers with marginal or impaired skills will see the Viper a geater distance, or, if trying to pass, will have a better view of when they have cleared the car. Of course higher visibility works both ways in traffic enforcement (making inadequate front drive Impala 9C1s seem more like autocross cones than before).

Dude, they're SUPER ***! Not to mention the whole RICE factor! I am begging you, don't put these on your GTS!

I have seen those on the rice rockets and some "NBA SUV's" at the local High School... not a Viper thing. Please don't do it!

I saw them on a car (blue ones) and they only were lighting half of the rim (semi-circles). I thought they might look nice but after seeing them in action, they looked like crap.

If you buy those lighted caps make sure you complete the look of your car by adding the clear side marker lenses, Neon tube lights for underneath, day-glo ****** balls for your windshield and lots of stickers like Type-R and dash fur.

I put a set of red ones on my GTS but ONLY on the rear tires. I dyno'd the car before and after and I got 12 RWHP after adding them. Seems the inertia of the added weight keeps the rear wheels spinning faster, adding power. Or something like that. It's too technical to get into here. Also, the "comet-like effect" blinded the guy operating the dyno and led him to mistakenly record erroneous data on the dyno sheet. Made him kinda dizzy. Me too. But, anyway, they're gonna look GREAT with my Type-R decals that I put just above the rear wheels on the fender. Maybe I'll cruise by the local high school at lunch time. pete

Mark,

If you want some decent valve stem caps to match your blue/white GTS, go to ebay and there are a number of different caps with the viper logo for around $13. I just got a set for my blue/white 97.

I like them. I will be adding those and some baseball cards to the spokes that will add a mean sound to the car when I drive. It's cheaper than a corsa system.
