Today installed a modular exhaust system on my black Gen1.

I've always been dissapointed by the sound of a stock Viper and loved something more throaty, the deep rumbling sound.
Boy - did I get it !
I basically tossed my cats and stock muffler and installed an aftermarket Spin Tech muffler.
Having an upcoming international move ahead and annual inspections of the car, I also needed the exhaust system to be easily converted back to stock.
That's why at the front of the side sill a 3 bolt flange was installed, to which both the stock [cat + muffler] or the spin Tech could be attached.
Everything went smooth and took about 5 hours to install.
The difference between the 2 systems is like night and day. What a drone ! This will make car alarms go off.

Here's some pics of the installation :

Please don't comment on how dirty the car is. The weather is kind of bad over here.
Total bill : 200$ for the mufflers and 300$ labor.
Swapping the systems takes about an hour.

Will try to record an mpeg tomorrow so I can share some SOUND.

Will the muffler fit under your side sills with the heat shields still in place? What are the outside dimensions of the muffler?

Yes, everything fits perfectly. This exhaust was developed for the Gen1 specifically.
Would never toss my heat shields. I have to admit that when I first took off the side sills it is kind of scary. It's kind of 'busy' in there (huge cat plus muffler). I expect the temperature in the side sills to be a bit lower now.

What model are they? The Spintech site does not show pictures of the models. Do they make them in stainless steel?

I bought it from Jon at Partsrack. 100$ a pop.
First the neighborhood hated me for my Bulldog. We can now add the Viper to that. :)

What ever happened to the sound bite that you were going to record, Yves?

The best thing about this exhaust system: It leaves room for the rocket launchers!

Seriously though, after seeing this I'm thinking my '94 RT is going to join the drone club too.

Are those the mufflers from the Viperclub classifieds, Yves?

PartsRack had these R+Dd a while back, specifically for our development RT10, and for Patrick Heibert of VCA Canada. He loved the mules, so we continued.

They are also optional on our Belanger G-1 Cat-backs....or seperately as Yves did. We usually have em in stock at PartsRack
