No, I have not been dropped...the adjuster has not even seen the car yet. But assuming it gets totaled they will paying out some big bucks. And I would hate to get another one and find out I cannot get insurance!

Well if they drop your coverage you'll automaticlly be put
on high risk at the next shop - standard automatic insurance
assripping... er I mean procedure. They will not drop a single
car, even if its a major payout - a typical owner pays like
$2000/yr (x) 30yrs on the road = $60,000 + investment interest
-- not including any other cars you have listed. It won't be
that big of a deal to them unless they are a really small
mom n' pop business. The first time my insurance got sued it
totaled over $70,000 and that was way back when the vipers came
with antennas. My rates didn't even go up.

If this is your very first accident chances are your company has
a forgiveness policy that will allow you to maintain your rates
without question. The only time an accident really bumps rates
is if you have other accidents on record or you have a driving
record like mine. If your compnay does drop you and you're worried
about pricing I would wait until you bounce off of high-risk
before getting your next viper - save yourself a few grand.

Don't fret it - clean up this mess first and make sure you're out
of the woods. When you're sure your ready we'll help you find
another car - no prob...

Thanks Bonkers and I hope you are right...I can afford an insurance hike but I don't want to drive a Viper without any insurance!

I have been with Nationwide for many years. I have had a few speeding tickets and one accident and they have never raised my rates or threatened to drop me. When I asked my agent why he told me they expect that people are going to get bogus speeding tickets and get in an accident once in a while. Give you local agent a call.

I already talked to them (Grundy) and they said it is too early to tell me what will happen since they don't know what their payout will be, etc. And I assume it will be quite a lot!

I had Allstate and close to totalled my car in last January.
They did not drop me and raised the yearly charges minimally.
Like 50 bucks or so. I'm happy!

The real answer.... if the accident was your fault.. you have one accident forgiveness... if not your fault... then your rates cannot be raised. On the speeding tickets... you have probably not been randomly reviewed with an MVR.. if you have stayed with Nationwide for a length of time.. they probably don't check your MVR yearly.

Trust me, if you have used your one "accident forgiveness".. and have a second AT FAULT accident.......your rates are gonna go up.

No previous accidents for me and I guess it was my fault, unless I convince the Judge that the guardrail jumped in front of me.

I will be sure to post what happens to my insurance when the dust settles.

You keep thinking your Viper is a large pay out for the insurance company. A totally Viper is a drop in the bucket !! Just think if you had really injured someone, That's when you have a problem and they pay millions. Or up to Max` and you pay the balance. Don't think from this post You'll see much change in rates. Been there done that!!!

Well it looks like things will work out well. My insurance company (Grundy) will simply switch VIN#s, when I get the new Viper, and keep the same policy in place. They basically told me that accidents happen. And no increase in rates although I have a feeling they may bump them up upon my next renewal...we'll see.
