Depends on if you have a Vipair.
;)
If your car has smooth tubes you will hear a whining or possibly sucking sound. I've never felt hot air coming out of mine.

Stu,
You could do a little research here.
You probably have seen pictures of wind tunnel testing where there are little tufts of yarn all over the test object.
You could stick a bunch of these on the front of your Viper, temporarily, and have someone drive ahead off your right front and video the tufts to see what's going on.

Then you could show us the video. You could be the man with the answers.

My bet is that the NACA duct on the front of the Viper was put there by the same team that designed the body. I seriously doubt that any thought went into function.
It's only there to look nice. It may not ever "****".

The filters muffle the sucking sound. Yes, hot air will come out of the vent at idle, hell it comes out every gap on a Viper. K&N's make more noise than stock and no filters make a cool hissing noise, like Ferraris do.

Oh, and don't EVER stick you hand in too deep. It may cause brain damage.

ROTFLOL... This is a joke right?

Well duh.....your hand is up IN the front of the engine compartment.
YES, the feeling of heat is ok, it means you have driven your car.

Yes, it is. BUT the heat under that hood is too much for the small amount of air going in the engine at idle. Try holding your hand over a throttle body at idle. Then have someone rev the engine and try it again.....ouch.

The NACA duct was developed to be used as an efficient, low drag, air intake for flat surfaces where the air is moving across the surface. The side of an aircraft would be a typical use.

The NACA duct on the front of the Viper may or may not work properly. I believe it's just for show. There are probably better ways to get air into the intake.

UT OH!! I need help!! It's 2:00 am est and I'm in my driveway revving the heck out of my 94. I don't have an NACA duct and don't feel any sucking action. Am I in trouble? Do I need an Arrow rebuild? How do I get the NACA action???

gen 1 the air comes from the facia gen 2 it comes from the naca duct, and the vipair kinda combines both if you will, it takes the air from the fasia and redirects it into the air box so it basicly makes gen 1 and gen 2 airflow so you know what i bet it does increase hp (at higher speeds anyway) and reduces drag as well
