K&N HP-2010 Oil Filter & Lifter Question

Has anyone used the K&N HP-2010 oil filter on their 2008? Their tech dept. states it was only tested on an 09 and can not recommend it for the 2008.....Aren't they the same? Also has anyone with an 08 had a lifter problem?..Thanks for your time....

I think the SRT filter is the best filter to use, and it's about the same price as the K&N, so may as well just go with that.

SRT filter. Just dont use FRAM, on anything.

There has been a lot of talk about the oil filters lately. From all that I have read the MOPAR filter is the best filter to use. I have both MOPAR filters on my '01 and '08 vipers. There are different part numbers so make sure you order the right filter. You can pick them up from most of the site supporting vendors like JonB@ partsrack and Woodhouse (ask for Mark).

Answer #2 No, at least not yet on our 2008 with 1500 miles on odomerter.

08-10 engines are the same. No worries.

However, I recommend to stick with SRT filters.

Note on SRT filters: the Gen 4 SRT-Viper spec filter also fits the 5.7 Hemi and 6.1L SRT-8 Motors and is recommended and used by SRT engineers:

Mine has a slight lifter noise when it first starts up.What lifter problems have you specifically had .

I have a loud "tick" that comes and goes but has not been identified as a lifter problem as yet......It comes out of the right side and can be very pronounced and then fade away completely...It can happen on start up and when the engine is warmed up.........I have no viper techs close to me and would welcome any opinions......Thanks for your time

Might just be noisy fuel injectors
