Need help with Console fix????

Anyone have any bright ideas on how to fix a Gen 1 console (around shifter) from popping up? Mine keeps popping up and Velcro doesn't seem to do the trick anymore, I am debating on screwing into it with Viper headed screws if I can't fix it any other way.

That is exactly waht I did. I put 2 screws in near the back corners of it and now it doesn't pop up anymore.

I tried velcro and couldn't get it to stay down. I went with 2 screws. I purchased black plastic screw caps at Home Depot and they actually look pretty good. No more console problems.

I've been thinking of doing this exact fix. im gonna do it this week i think.

Just a thought.

I would use clear silicon as a glue. Put enough to bond both pieces together,it should not take too much. It should hold the console down, and if you have to pull it up you always can. Use silicon and put some weight on it for a couple of hours and your set.

See if you can buy just the velcro tabs new. I hear they there effectiveness after a few yeras of use.
