These are for a 00' Viper:

First off is there a "born" date on the tire (when it was manufactured)

Second there are two different models of Pilot Sports, regular "Pilot Sports" and "Pilot Sport AS", does anybody know the difference aside from a cost difference of $50 per tire? Which one is better for road racing? Both are "Z" rated.

Tire manufacturing dates are molded into the sidewall in an oval area. The three digit number gives you the week and the last digit of the year of manufacture.

A/S = All Season.
I run them on my bimmer. They are a harder compound and have a longer tread life. Regular Pilot Sports are better for road racing. See you at Willow Springs.
