I have been doing web design and application development for about 6 yesrs now. Some of the sites that I have worked on include Air Products, Mack Trucks, Lucent, etc. I am familar with PHP, asp.net, asp, cold fusion....basically whatever language you want the thing written in, I can accomodate. I would be willing to lend a hand.

Todd,

You are right, Ga. needs help in the web department. I can also recommend Don. He just did a complete rebuild/update of a large website for me. Excellent job at a fair price. This is what he does for a living so we need to get the officers to sign up on spending some money. All that said, I wonder how much the site would be used.

I was thinking the same thing. For a club that's not very active and usually has low turnouts at the few events we do, we have bigger probs than a crappy website. I would think someone just searching for the GA website, would also find this website. They could see what events we have scheduled (assuming we ever actually did much :curse: ) if we used the "Events" section more frequently. We need to be spending money on events and getting a better turnout instead of a new website. Whats the point of a new and improved website if we don't have anything to post on it??

The GA VCA _does_ have money! They should look at spending some of that on the web site. Get the GA VCA treasurer/president to share the current bank balance and then they can plan accordingly based on the current $$ in the budget, future events planned, etc...

When I was president, we kept close to 3k around all the time... since they've done fewer events , this much (or more) should be around. 1k for a web site isn't a bad investment...

heck, Jay Herbert gets $$$ for maintenance for the VCA site, right? There is already a precedent for this...

As Lee was mentioning, I am happy to assist you.

I have created the web sites for many of the regions here for the VCA, worked on this site, and countless others.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected], or give me a call at 325-692-3550.

Thanks

Don

Don's done our NY/CT Website to the great pleasure of our members. I seriously don't know how he makes a living with his pricing (please don't tell him), but you can add me to his list of references.

No $%$#, No one uses the ga VCA site even when there were events posted & everyone comes to this site, why duplicate efforts? Why throw good money after bad.I rarely see any posts on this site with GA VCA events. When I was president , this was THE forum to use.
This region cannot even get anyone to step up to be the next president. Lots of crying but no one willing to take any action. I personally have leaned on a few members, but with no results. It would be a shame to see this once vibrant region go down the tubes again.
The GA VCA web site is the least of the problems. :bonker:

I have inquired about being President and I think Wayne asked one of the other guys who said they were interested. I agree the GA-VCA does need changes. We either need new officers or atleast the current officers need to start planning more events. Otherwise, we're gonna end up going belly-up!

pdmracing,

I did a search today of anything pertaining to Georgia on this site. I came up with (other than the normal monthly meetings) 6.. I know for a fact that there were more than that as my car was used at a GA VCA event as a guinne pig to show other Viper owners how easy it is to service our cars. We had a cook-out also. I don't think you were there..Also the ALMS corral..were you there?

Fine and dandy that this site has been used in the past for GA conversations..Who is paying for the URL of the GA site?? It's still active..with 4 year old information.

When I bought my Viper 2 years ago I found the GA club site.It was 2 years old then..I figured the GA club was defunct..NO contacts 2 year old pics..

The only way I found there was an active club is because I bought a soft top from the President of the Illinois chapter and talked to him for a long time. He gave me Joseph Dells name and number. If I hadn't had this info I would still think there is no GA Viper Club.

Basically, you can keep on with your pedestrian way of communication.

I'm sorry that all the (supposedly GA Viper Club Wash) is being put out over the entire VCA board.

Now, perhaps PDM We can get our own site (which already exists) and dissucess these things amoungs ourselves..

I invision a place where we can immediately put up events that we find out about..whether car shows or drags or road racing..whatever..just cruises anywhere!!! We could have a calender where anyone can put events on it.

Why shouldn't there be a place where I say I'm leaving Lawrenceville next Saturday at the Home Depot and going to Sugar Hill to Peachtree BBQ. It's a shack on the side of the road...If I'm going I'd invite everyone, best BBQ in GA (flames coming)

I don't see any reason why California needs to read this (if they do).

a simple solution would be to have region specific forums. like gen1/2, gen3, voi, etc. just make 125? new sections for each region at the bottom of the forum & make the admin of the sections the leaders of the area or w/e you decide.

quick and clean, and keeps everyone on the same site using only one set of login and pw & PM, etc.

separate site makes no sense if you have control over your regions section.

maybe separate calendar per region section too. all of this can be added/customized.

and all of this would fall under the national vca budget.

you could even do regional advertising specific to that forum section. detailer in GA that specialises in viper detailing? perfect, sign him up for advertising in the GA section. etc.

just some ideas from an IT/Operations Director :D

OK, how have you been? Life has been a bity busy and the indians are getting a bit restless for some good reason. I did find my VCA site info as this is clear. My wife and I did miss you at VOI-9.

I never did get the time to send photos (yours are great by the way) for the web site. I do like your lights going on and off....... Cool. I will call you and chat has a great deal has been going on personally and GA VCA is strong in numbers but low in activity and even membership and involvement. I will give you a buzz. Or call me Lee any time 678.898.9782

Oh, sorry..Lee above...Wayne, I think if we're gonna discuss all the GA viper club stuff right here then maybe you should read the whole thread. As a bonus people have sent me E-mails willing to help. You're in charge of the $ and choice but I've told you for over a year this is the first thing that needs to be done. Call me if you want the other contacts..

Talk to you in a month or so,
Todd

and yes that was a twisting of the knife :)

Certainly something to consider (although the forum quantity police may complain )..... Some regional sites do have forums, but it takes a pretty big mass of users to make them work... most regional sites with them have very few posts.
