Viper ACR lap time Validation RequiredI intend to remove it because there is no credible sources for this rumour, not even information about the specifications of the cars that were used. Also as a side issue am wondering doesn't production vehicle imply that the vehicle is at factory default i,e the issue of tires used during the test, shouldn't they be the factory fitted specification? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.28.194.174 (talk) 23:21, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

I am always inclined to leave these up for a few days unverified, because actual verification takes a while. However, I could find no further proof, and challenges remained unanswered. Contacts at the Ring told me that Coronel was there last week, and went home. They had nothing on that listed Viper record. I guess we remove it until proof becomes available. P.S.: please sign your comments. Thank you. BsBsBs (talk) 03:49, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

It's still up there but as mentioned just needs verification, click on "citation needed" and you get a full explaination.

If you look at most of the things that the user who took the Viper time down has posted, he appears to be a Lexus fanboy. They are in denial. Big deal. Either keep putting it back up while someone who's entire life is dedicated to thinking that the LFA is the best, fastest car of all time, or wait until the time is verified. He'll have to eat his words then.

Who the F* used wikipedia? I am 27 and have never used it for ANYTHING. School and college doesn not allow any referance at all to wiki.

FYI if I found the Viper record on Wiki I would assume it was BS. Oppose to a legit website, like viperclub.org!

I'm 24 and used wikipedia a lot throughout college... Of course you can't cite it directly, but it's a great place to find a slew of relevant legitimate sources.

Wiki is on on the first page results of every major search engine so that's what people tend to look at.

if they keep taking it down, keep putting it back up. If it's the same LFA fanboy who's doing the removal, the wikipedia mods will IP ban his ass or lock the thread

The manual doesn't say the extension isn't street legal. Just a warning about damaging the extension when used on public roads.

CAUTION: The track extension should only be used during closed circuit track events. Thetrack extension can cause premature damage to your vehicle if used on public roads.

Edit: Read the wiki reference to this article here:
http://www.compositesworld.com/articles/composite-wing-key-to-high-speed-stability

Relevant parts:
That, Shinedling notes, is very difficult in a street-legal passenger car because of driveability issues and the fact that many existing front-downforce solutions extend outward from the bottom front and side of the vehicle in violation of federal bumper laws.

For track racing, the center strip is replaced with the “track extension,” another VHMWPE panel, which optimizes aerodynamic balance by extending the splitter to its full profile, 3.2 inches/80 mm beyond the car’s nose.

What's interesting is someone completely removed the LFA time. :lmao: Also worth noting, the 2008's time is still listed in spite of having the "track extension" installed. Whoever the hater is that keeps moving/removing the Viper's time needs to remove that pesky GT2 RS time as well, no video proof of that run was ever posted.

I'd say, just keep posting it back in the proper section, maybe make some complaints to wikipedia moderators, etc. maybe get the thread locked or something
