Had the Viper all shined up last night and drove up to the main entrance of Foxwoods Casino. I saw all the valet parkers looking, pointing, talking, & staring at the Viper. I knew what was going thru their minds and what they were talking about. Who was going to get to test drive the Viper. I already knew who was, NO ONE! The first young kid came running up, greeted me, and continued with the routine fluff talk, sir this & sir that, how am I doing, nice car etc etc. I told him I wanted to park the Viper right in front of the Casino with the Hummers, Caddys, & Porsches already there. He said he would have to get his boss. His equally friendly boss came over and said they often let special guests with special vehicles park out front. I didn't have any idea how much money would have to change hands to have this happen so I asked right up front, what kind of gratuity would be considered proper to make this happen. In the neighborhood of $20.00 was the reply. That was OK with me. I was enjoying the crowd that was hanging out in front of the Casino checking out the car and was glad the early gen 2 had the hotter cam as it sounded cool sitting there idling thru the Corsa exhaust under the pavillion. Now on to the next problem. I told him I wasn't going to leave my keys with anyone, citing certain horror stories pertaining to valet parkers & Vipers. He said I had to leave my keys if I wanted to park there. I told him Mohegan Sun Casino was only 15 minutes away and I was going to drive over there & check out the parking situation. He told me to wait while he got his boss. On to the third person. The next equally friendly boss also said I would have to leave my keys if I wanted to park out front. I said no way. He then assured me that absolutely no one would drive or move my car. So I asked him why did he need my keys if no one was going to move the car. He had a confused look on his face and no answer. I then offered to give him my cell phone number & promised him I would come right away if they called and my car needed to be moved. He thought about for a minute & said he would have to ask the big boss. He came back and said that would work. They moved a shiny new Lexus from out front and guided me & the Viper into that spot. After a few hand shakes & well wishes from my new best friends I was off to the black jack tables with my keys in my pocket. I came out a few hours later and all was well! Today I went back again & arranged the same parking deal and it worked out just as well. I would reccomend this Casino and the parking facilities to anyone. How about a Viper day at Foxwoods with 20 or 30 Vipers parked out front. Cool! Oh, by the way when all was said and done, including the $40.00 parking tips I am down $5.00, DAMN!

I'm valet manager @ a hotel in downtown Orlando. We have to have the keys to the cars up front in case emergency vehicles are called to the hotel. This is not negnotible for us. Of course this depends on the layout of the front drive and where your actually parking. BTW, $20 is cheap to park up front as well. We are charging $100-$200 right now with the NBA Finals going on to park up front, $30 gets you a spot 1/2 mile away.

Thanks for telling me this. I'll be sure to stay away from there. I'm not rich enough and there is no event I need to attend that justifies that type of scalping.

I used to have the Valet Virus, but......when I got my tunes for the SCT from Roe, I asked for a "valet tune".
Takes about 2 minutes to load up, and any type of party planned comes to a screeching halt at about 2000 rpms or 20 mph, whichever it gets to first.

They call it "CURBING" in AtlanticCity. Sometimes the cars are parked double wide and The furthest they will "drive" your car is back a few feet and foward a few feet to let another vehicle out. I dont have a problem with that. Hell, even if they did a quick burnout it wouldnt exactly be the end of the world :D

This type of parking is Superior to Valet beacuse your car gets to sit up front where everyone can appreciate it. Also most resorts in AC it dosnt even cost any more. I give em 10 bucks when i drop it off for a short time(aka bouncing from casino to casino), and 20 if im there till i move to a garage for the night.

in AC, garages are $5-10 in and out for as long as you want to stay in. might seem cheap, but the casinos know exactly what they are doing:)

When faced with the same key request, I locked the car and gave them my key but kept the fob. They may have never known that they could't drive the car.

I live in South Florida, and $20 seems about right. I had my car parked in front of the Hard Rock Casino and they charge me $20 too. But, I had to turn over the keys to them, but the car was never moved from there. On a seperate occassion in Coral Gables. I went to a restaurant for dinner where all the parking is along a stretch of Blvd. with meter parking. At night all the meter parking becomes valet parking. I pull in a space in front of the restaurant and the valet attendant charge me $10 and the same story that I had leave the keys with them as per order of the police. When I came back my car was no longer in front and was parked around the back. Needless to say they park it head in first with a concrete wheel bumper. Thus, as you can guess they scraped the whole front bottom part of the facia. I had to sue them to recover my repair bill. Therefore, lesson learned never leave your keys with any attendant even if they asked for it. I suggest give them a fake key instead.

Even at 1 MPH, they can still do $1000s of damage to your front end running up over a curb bumper - still not worth the risk.

Hell, I parked on the street in downtown DC overnight rather than let a parking garage attendant take my car down the steep drive that quickly levels off - likely to scrape just then - not to mention actually parking the car - and I had no problems.

They could also arm themselves with 20 lb. sledgehammers and do a buttload more damage. :)
Even at 0 MPH if one of them spilled a cup of coffee in the truck, I'd have to sell it.

The Valet Tune can be risky, but it's one I'm willing to take.
Sometime.
Maybe in the future.

Any my girlfriend wonders why I usually opt to drive my Jeep when we go out on the town... There's just something about being able to park anywhere and not worry about the car that makes taking the Viper out on non-joyride trips not so fun.

I wouldn't drive my Viper there, period.
Don't need the attention or the headache.
