What is this plug/bolt for?

I assumed it was to check diff fluid level....but mine is froze....cannot budge it. I was able to easily remove the plug right above it....that is silver in the picture. Thoughts?

That is the 'fill plug'.

I never use it though. I fill using the plug above that. The above plug is a return provision for adding a diff cooler to the car.

Don't fill all the way to the upper plug hole. -that would be way overfilled.
I put in a quart and a half, plus the additive and call it good.
Ends up being a little over, but not enough to cause any problems or leaks.

Thanks guys...my lower fill plug is basically frozen then. I could not budge the thing. Broke an allen socket off in it!!! I used the top one like Allan does to put in some friction modifier. Did a gear change a couple months ago and they did not put friction modifier in. My diff on tight turns was fighting me!!!! Hope the additive helps.

Added the Mopar friction modifier....and my diff seems happy again. So that is good!
