What\'s in the VIN?

I recently purchased a 2003 SRT-10 from a broker. As I have spoken to several people, everyone seems to be interested in the VIN number.

Does anyone have any insight as to its importance and what it means?

Mine is 1B3JR65Z83V500131

Don't know. Maybe someone wanted to know who the original cert holder was.

Since CAAP is only building Vipers right now, your car was probably built close in sequence to the last 4 of your VIN. When CAAP was building Prowlers, the Viper and Prowler shared the build sequence part of the VIN. You have a fairly early car.

Is there any way to find out what actual production number your car is by the VIN? i.e. I might be cool to know that yours was the 50th car or something....

The 2003's were not built in order of VIN's from all that I heard.

The last 8 digits of my VIN are 3V501002, and my car has been in D-1 status for over a month.

i don't know about dc but bmw's are the first three are who made it fourth thru seventh are the model code 8th is restraint system 9 is a check digit 10 is a model year identifier and 11th is a plant code and 12-17 are sequential production number.So dc may do it diffrent but most 12-17 are all production number.
