    Turbo vs Supercharger

I hear 1BADGTS is an expert on charged Viper engines and their durability. He says, and I quote but not in exact language: only 2 Vipers have ever survived hard driving without failing. Of course my personal experience differs with that. However, his experience, of which none is based on...

Checking brake pad wear on Gen IV Viper . . .

I have been very happy with Brakeman 3 pads up front. I started with them in the rear as well but switched back to stock for better feel and proportioning in case (i.e. when) the ABS system fails(ed). Rotor wear has been very reasonable, as has been brake life.

Thanks. And I hope to have a surprise shortly to possibly make up for the shortened day. One thing I will not repeat though is the fall down the stairs. That will be lasting for some time. No Viper for me for several weeks.

Want to know : Anyone have a set of front wheels i could borrow for a few days?

I think if you ask the question in the Gen I/II forum you will get the answer you seek. I am sure all combinations have been tried. I believe the ACR and standard wheel have the same offset for Gen II.

Want to know : Anyone have a set of front wheels i could borrow for a few days?

I can't help you out with stock GTS wheels. However I am questioning the need for fitment as this is a fairly standard size run by many at the track. I run 305's on my SRT, but mounted on wider 11 inch wheels.

    Does dry ice really help?

Don't know. But 2 straight on a 90 degree day was almost on top of each other and the third with a 15 minute break was also very close. Good enough for me. I have dynoed my car over twenty times. I know the results. It does not suffer from short term heat soak. I added the second heat...

    Does dry ice really help?

No I am saying an air - air intercooler is much less sensitive to heating as it lacks the thermal inertia to retain heat. With air - water if the coolant is hot the intercooler radiator has to expel not only the charge heat but also the coolant supply heat. And the delta T across the...

    Does dry ice really help?

Heat soak is heat soak, no matter the cause. And water type intercooled cars are more prone to heat soak as the intercooler gets heat soaked robbing lots of power for the ensuing run. Most need air velocity to cool the intercooler system down again and in an engine off condition take a long time...

Thanks Jess. Yours and Maureens help was very much appreciated. Next time we need to get Mother Nature on board as well! Believe it or not we got one more session in before the lighting came around again. Then, as I was departing, the sun came out. But by then the track workers had all gone...

    help - Need instructions

Thanks everyone for the great help. As Jon said nothing like our VCA comraderie to help save the day. Just arrived home after the day at the track (where we were when the keys found themselves unreachable). Thanks Steve, Tom, Jon and Jim! As to public description of this I agree that ot is...

    8-Speed Automatic

Most of Torquemonsters comments relate to planetary automatic transmissions with a fluid torque converter.Do they apply to planetary automatics with a launch clutch (aka Mercedes 7 speed used in performance cars)? Or dual clutch automatics using parallel shaft gear technologies similar to...

    Bob Lutz's Vipers for sale

He also worked for BMW and Ford! So what does that say? Look at the products each company at the end of his tenure. That tells more about what he was able to accomplish. If only Iacocca had trusted him.

His Cobra is a replica. Not that he could not afford a real one but he drives the replica regularly.

New Chrysler Owns the Viper - See Below

Nothing like what would happen if all TARP funds would require immediate repayment. That would shut the doors of GM and Chrysler and a whole number of suppliers immediately. That would be a tailspin they would talk about for hundreds of years. Impossible to regulate the speed at which a...

New Chrysler Owns the Viper - See Below

Thanks Bob. Always good to see it in writing. I am willing to bet that there are not 4 votes to take this on. The supreme Court is not in the business of assessing asset value, and given the bankruptcy court's assessment on the asset value th erule of law on the secured creditors aspect is...

Well the appeal has come and gone without a judgement for Indiana or a reversal. The sale has been placed on hold through Monday to allow the pensioners to appeal to one level higher. Hardly a success. After how many failed appeals on the grounds stated do they need before you capitulate and let...

Yellow if the value is $2B and it is SOLD, with 100% of the proceeds given to the creditors why would they care what the buyers did with it? It is SOLD. Anything after that point is a new entity. You cannot get the monies from it more than once. That the fed is willing to invest in the new...

New Chrysler Owns the Viper - See Below

What is more concerning is the new appeal element on the application of TARP funds. That could bring GM, Chrysler and the automotivive industry to a screaching halt as even the suppliers have received TARP funds. This may be a case of cutting off ones nose to spite their face. How important...

New Chrysler Owns the Viper - See Below

I can unequivically say I disagree with the rule of law assertion. I believe the creditors are receiving 100% of the value, spread equally between all 6.9B of holdings. That is based upon the stated value of the "good" Chrysler of $2B. The Judge provided a 3 week period for any and all...
