Thank you for the very illuminating background! (Pun intended)
As with many electrical parts, just because it looks the same and fits the hole and plug, doesn't guarantee full and proper operation. Perhaps most variants of the Ford part could be used in a pinch to get a Viper safely down the...
During Canada's insane COVID shutdown, my car was DEAD. I called and called and pleaded to get a pump back-channeled to me. Once they agreed, I doubled the order so I'd never have to go begging again.
Here's a quick summary thread from Gen 3 Forum. https://www.viperclub.org/vca/threads/rpm-limit.679138/ There's a lot more backstory on this build.
For the Gen 1 and 2 models, the mechanical rev limit can be raised substantially, along with the fuel cutoff. However, the fundamental issue is the...
There's room for a GSS style pump by trimming 1 or 2 spider legs and zip-tying it secure. Connect the 2 with Y fitting and go out with AN8 to a new pass through in place of the OE reg. The twin pumps will demand more wire gauge on all the feeds.
The Racetronix 340 Jet is not E85 rated, but the 255 is. Try NOT to cut any window in the stock bucket, use a higher flow Jet in the stock position and add another demand-driven pump in the sealed bucket. Go with a modded reg outlet with external FPR and return.
The stock shifter is smoother and has more leverage. Short throw shifter moves the fulcrum point up. Or, you can move the knob down and get more fork movement per inch of throw with higher effort. I've tested several intermediate shaft lengths and went with mid-length and stock knob on the IPSCO...

My car went deadstick at COTA one day between 10 and 11. Flat-towed back to the paddock and discovered the relay laying on the trunk floor by the amp. Plugged it back in firmly and all good. Must have pounded the apex curbs a bit too hard.
These engines were designed to run right around 200F in light duty and it is well within their design envelope to run up into the 230's on hot days with heavy loading.
I have owned 2 Vipers since new and used NAPA Gold and WIX filters for a long time. I track my street car far more than most anyone with Mobil 1 15W-50 exclusively. I sample once a year at oil change and evaluate the results. I have gone 3-4 months between starts without worry about starvation...
There are 2 different impeller hub diameters - 12mm and 5/8". Somewhere between '98 and '99 is where they got bigger. Here's what the innards look like:
My experience is that the seal ages out LONG BEFORE the bearings do. I haven't found a vendor for the seals by themselves, or the bearing/seal cartridge.
As a very temporary stopgap attempt, you can try squeezing/jiggling the bellows between the foot box and door while operating the switch. It may get you a few cycles.
It's the center venturi section of the pump that extends below the bucket and draws from the tank. As long as there's 1-2" of fuel in the tank, it will prime.
