Video: Viper Cup Year In Review (ACR-X)

Meh. If you're gonna invest in a set of good dampers, get Motons instead of the KW's on the X.

There is a good chance I will be there, coaching.

    The future of tracks

Hahaha! Steve, I suspect we agree a whole lot more, on a whole lot more things, than we disagree (or even realize). :D

    The future of tracks

I will say this, as I have no skin in the game: I was asked to visit Spring Mountain on the way to Miller, in order to brief everyone what to expect with the lights & to judge whether we could race safely there. I judged we could race safely, as long as folks understood the limitations of the...

    The future of tracks

FYI, the cameras were not operational. It was just us + the ATV folks.

    Ralph is a track stud.

Jon, first of all, many thanks again to you and Doris for your stellar work with pace car duty, both with Viper Cup and VRL races. Second, while it would be very inappropriate for me to comment about any specific racers, since I was race steward this season, my comments about Ralph were...

DODGE VIPER CUP (ACR-x) VRL Finals THIS WEEKEND - NV

The built in lights stay with the car. The suction cup lights on the roof do not.

    Ralph is a track stud.

What's wrong with Foust? he did a great job, drove well, raced clean, and was a great guy to everyone.

    Ralph is a track stud.

I think it is very admirable to see an auto company's leader racing his own products, and especially to be at the front of the pack.

    Ralph is a track stud.

He is a very impressive driver who really stepped it up yesterday. He is also a helluva nice and self-effacing guy. :2tu:

Sept 30 "Day Before VOI" Open Track Day

Sorry for any confusion, but I said that Viper Cup racers could not drive the track on 9/30 in any of those prohibited vehicles. VRL racers do not have similar prohibitions on their activities. 2 different leagues, 2 different sets of drivers, 2 different sets of rules.

Sept 30 "Day Before VOI" Open Track Day

The VRL cars may do what they wish. The Dodge Viper Cup operates under much more restrictive rules regarding testing within 7 days of a sanctioned race.

Sept 30 "Day Before VOI" Open Track Day

Just a note to Viper Cup folks: you may NOT drive this Thursday test day in your ACR-X's. You also may NOT do it in a Comp Coupe or any other race prepared Viper. You may do it in a street Viper or any other vehicle that does NOT have any sort of data acquisition.

    ACR-X Photos - VIR

The Michelin slick spec tires used in the Dodge Viper Cup series are prettty much an order of magnitude grippier than the R6 or VRL spec Hoosiers, which are already outstanding tires. I have extensive experience with these Michelins from racing GT3 Cup cars, and they are the bomb. But, as Dave...

Nice driving. I see an easy 5-6 seconds there with some more seat time at VIR!

ACRX also has significantly less aero drag than the Comp Coupe. Overall a very good, but hot, event. Some great racing & some fantastic laptimes!

Viper Days at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas

The man who built TWS told me that the road course was originally designed to run clockwise....and some of the curb placements validate this. In my opin ion, it flows bettter....but straightaway speeds are a bit higher. I too was there this past weekend with PCA, doing advanced instruction...

    Viper Cup update

I agree. As I said, I am not a big fan of rumors, so hopefully the series' participants will build their own buzz! I suspect it will be a mix of what you term "sportsmen" and pros....just like World Challenge and Grand Am. :D

    Viper Cup update

I have no idea whatsoever who will be participating starting in July at VIR. I think it would be naive not to expect true pros in the series, but at this point we'll have to wait & see who makes up the grids. Not trying to be coy, I simply don't know, and I am not fond of rumors. :D I am...
