Right on. Hopefully it works for you. I'm still having the same issue with reverse, but the car shifts beautifully other than that, and it hasn't become worse, so I've accepted it as a characteristic of the car. No worries.- flyboy999

All "patched up" here as of my lunch break. If anyone wants the "cliff notes" version of how to do it, just ask. The online instructions are pretty convoluted and can really be boiled down to a couple straightforward steps. :)- flyboy999

Needless to say, I have informed them that I have no confidence in their ability to carefully service my Viper if they can't even accurately determine if parts are available for the car. Changed oil in transmission and diff.
Just so you guys know, I had some Pennzoil Ultra Platinum brought into the Lordco in North Vancouver. It cost me $170.00 taxes in for 12 quarts. Just a follow up here. The RP is working fine in the transmission, and I believe the reverse "lock out" condition has been slightly improved, but it is hard to tell. It still locks me out every now and then, but as soon as I start to let up on the clutch and get the input shaft spinning it...- flyboy999

Move to Gen V?
I think the biggest question you have to ask is whether or not you are happy with the Gen IV? If you are happy with it, maybe it's not worth it. My style is more, get something different. I started with a Honda S2000, then thought, "Man, I'd really like a cool car to drive in the winter."...- flyboy999

Poor Quality control issue
Yeah, I was thinking complete removal with the hairdryer and some fishing line, but now that I think about it, you might not even have to do the "pull off" step. I'd just warm it up and twist it a bit to the right and see if that works.- flyboy999

Yep fair enough. Also, for those of you planning on doing this, you absolutely have to put in the "friction modifier" 4oz worth (assuming the fluid you are using doesn't already contain it), or you will get some very bad sounds happening from your diff at slow speeds with the wheel...- flyboy999

Add my 14 GTS to the Heart attack list.
Absolutely true. The dealership transferred the ownership of my GTS from the 1st owner to me immediately on purchase, and Chrysler has already sent me the R14 recall notice for my car. The warranty coverage is the same here in Canada. If anything in the powertrain fails between now and July...- flyboy999

My take is this: the amount of money saved by purchasing a Canadian Viper is offset by the hassels of importation (shipping, taxes etc.), modification, and warranty concerns. Keep us posted. I'm interested to see if the fluid switch helps. It seems to have improved my ability to get into reverse, but the problem hasn't entirely disappeared. My hope is it will improve over time, as a transmission specialist has suggested.- flyboy999

I did mine last weekend and was similarly surprised at the condition of the fluids with 2600 km (1,600 miles) on the car. The diff fluid in particular was pretty nasty looking. I'm in agreement.
