2005 viper with Paxton supercharger
Personally I would not buy a boosted Viper if I was not specifically looking for a boosted Viper. I’d buy the cleanest closest to original Viper I could afford…that way I can turn it into my own vision.- yzf1999

New owner, SE PA
The Scat Pack m6 has 3:90 gearing (I owned one)…I’m sure your viper has the stock 3:07 gears (I own a 97). Yes my Viper feels slower because of the tall gears and the fact I’m running taller tires cuz of the 19 inch wheels (stock are 17 inch). If the Carfax says it’s total loss then that reflects the value of the car…regardless a fixed totaled 97 GTS is worth north of 50k.- yzf1999

Got the suspension and undercarriage degreased and detailed to like new condition…also changed out the brake pads to EBC ceramic dustless Redstuff pads front and rear. Also changed out the rotors to stoptech drilled rotors. Now I just need to change the fluid and bleed all four corners.- yzf1999

Spent the last couple days detailing the undercarriage…next up is new drilled rotors and low dust ceramic pads. The stock Brembo pads make a stupid amount of break dust all over the car.- yzf1999

Why did ACRs never have special engines?
I think the reasoning was because the Viper was a road going race car by design, so there was no reason to build a separate engine platform for the ACR cars.- yzf1999

Which gearing is the best all around…3:55 or 3:73 (1997 GTS)
I have 19x13” rear wheels (2017 Viper wheels) with 355/30 tires on my car now….I never thought about how the 19” wheels would affect the gearing. They are 2” bigger than the stock 17” wheels.- yzf1999

Low mileage cars and 'fixing' issue
The good thing about your car is at just 4k miles you can actually drive the car and not kill its value…I bought my 97 GTS with 16k miles and put 850 miles on it this summer. For me part of the fun of owning the car is fixing things, maintenance and changing things to update the car and make it...- yzf1999
