Any music industry insiders/executives out there?

My wife is putting the finishing touches on a demo disc. Do any of you insiders have any tips for submission to labels? I've read the books, articles and done a bit of research on the topic, but, wanted to see if anyone here could offer suggestions. She has a writing style like Tori Amos and can sing in multiple styles.
