Hello, I'm new to the forum and looking to buy a Gen.1 1993-1996 RT/10. I am doing my "homework" before the big buy. I was wondering if there are any Viper technicians in the Pittsburgh, PA area? I can do some work, but I just worry about any major repairs that I cannot handle. In addition, the Viper Buyers Guide is excellent! Any help would be appreciated.

Call West Pointe Dodge in Burgettstown. They have a viper tech there, I beleive he may be the service manager. He is also a viper owner.

I have heard on this forum that the Viper tech at Laurel Valley Motors in Latrobe is pretty good. That was about a year ago.

Thanks guys. West Pointe is the closest to me. I'd have to put my car trailer to use in order to take a car to Latrobe.

PittsburghRT, where are you located? I'm in Canonsburg, just south of the Burgh. There are a few dyno's around us to when you start to mod.

I beleive the Tech from West Point will also make house calls if its a must. :D

WOW that's crazy! I too live in Canonsburg and also work in Canonsburg. It's a small world. I know there is (or was?) a dyno at a guys house in McDonald. But, I heard they were supposed to move to a "store front." He calls his place Speed Nation. There is also a place in Washington called Stropes, but i've heard some bad things about them. Myself and my father a very into cars and that how I know about these places. Hmmm... I still can't believe there is someone else on here from little Canonsburg.

hey...just saw your post. the burgh is my home town....also cannonsburg. anyway, the dyno in mcdonald belongs to mike ancus...who deals primarily with imports (hondas), but does have a large viper following and has very decent prices to rent dyno....great guy. you can find him at north park SCCA on sundays in the fall. i would advise using him...and very close to home. also, we have a great viper mechanic out here in columbus, oh. pm me if you are interested....you may have to trailer the car, but i guarentee it will be worth it in the end. he's the best....and VERY cheap.

The two dyno's mentioned above are the ones I am aware of too. However, I have never used either one. I did stop by Stropes one day last fall when someone from Irwin had a red rt/10 roadster (creampuff) with a 5lb Roe on it. They want something like $80 for just two runs. I know Stropes is really into LT1 and LS1 motors. I would have them do any work for me, but maybe just a dyno run. PittsburghRT, when you get that car, pm me and we can meet up for a ride in the snakes. A buddy of mine in Cecil has an RT too. There are actually a few snakes slithering around here. I live right in North Strabane and work in South Pointe.

ViperChad, thanks for the info. Who is the tech from Ohio, pm me? I know a few out there too. Does Mike Ancus still use the Mustang dyno?

Hey Simms will do. I was going to work the other morning and saw a black Gen1 RT10 on Rt.19 . There are quite a few Vipers in our area. I'm trying to get one I know that's stored away. I'm in no hurry to run out and just buy one. But, there are a lot of Vipers for sale, a lot that were damaged at one time or another. I'm looking for a nice, original car (with good headgaskets) :) My big problem is the lack of extra garage space. 7 garage stalls filled and still in need of a garage stall for an old 70 z28 (bought from Ebay in need of a full restoration) and a Viper. Something has to go (truck and old Corvette). But, if something worth my while comes along, i'll find a place to keep it in. Space is the only thing holding me back now and I don't want to start leaving my Acura outside, especially with winter coming.

I just past a red GTS in Upper ST. Clair two day ago too. They are around, but still rare. Its hard to drive down the road without attention. Burgander still has that 92 that never has been registered. Been sitting for 12 years though. And I'm sure you know what that does to a car. But I think they are still honoring a warranty with it, but I am sure the price is too high.

Last year the "new" 1992 RT10 was posted on their website for $75,000 ...way too much money. But, it only has 30 miles on it and still covered by a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty :)

I don't believe it! After moving here a little over two years ago and seeing minimal Viper activity, I run across all these cars within a stones throw. I live just outside Cecil and work in Southpointe. I'm embarrasssed at how little I drive the car up here and haven't been to a track since moving here either. Anyone up for any Viper activity??

Regarding dealers, had recall work done at Norwin Dodge and won't go back. Had heard some good things about them, but didn't see it with my car. Maybe Burgettstown next time.

John, I am definately up for some Viper activity. We don't have too many weekends left up here (thanks to the crap weather). Where do you work in Southpointe? I'm in the Hershey 2 building. I have seen a red Gen1 and a new SRT-10 across the road from me at Heater Printing.

The Laurel Valley Motors connection comes from me. The service manager's name is T.O. and the Viper tech is Art. Telephone number is 724-539-5500. Art is a terrific mechanic and an excellent, trained Viper tech. He's the only one who's ever touched my '99 GTS. Performed several mod's and done them all very first class...everything dress right dress when he get's done. T.O. is a great guy as well. Fred is the General Manager and a real wild man...you'll love him. Last time I checked they had an SRT truck on the floor. You'll be very pleased with this dealer I can assure you. Tell them Rob/black Viper GTS sent you.

Rob,

Was Art the tech. that was in a motorcycle accident and did not work for a while, or am I thinking of the previous tech. you recommended from Laurel Valley?

P.S. - I have only good things to say about Laurel Valley Motors as well.

Simms,

I'm in Southpointe Plaza 1 (400 Southpointe Blvd, the Millcraft bldg). I have a red GTS, but rarely drive it to work due to the parking situation. Crap weather is right, this past weekend was a true mess. Luckily we live at the top of the hill...

Maybe we can meet at Jay's for a brew sometime.

Sounds good. I'll pm you my cell number so we can get the cars out sometime and take a cruise. I've seen a Red GTS around here a couple times, but I don't know if it was you. Looked to be a 97.
