Hello I am not a current Viper owner but I am looking at getting a differant sports car soon and would like some info. I own a '94 RX7 tt that I love but I am sick of fixing it all the time. It is in the shop now for a new motor/clutch....etc now to the tune of $5700!! For some of the Viper owners I know that is not a lot of money but it is a LOT to me. I would like some input on how reliable these things are. I know it is not going to be like my old toyota truck that never breaks but within reason what would I expect. I also would like some info on What I could expect to pay for a hard top (GTS?) version. I would most likely have to buy the oldest one I could find to keep the $$ as low as possible.

5k is still alot of money no matter what type of sports car you own. Now for the viper's reliability. i have owned vipers since 1995. this is one vehicle that i have not had to pour $$$ into. Just your basic maintenance. I at one time raced a viper and i never once had a mechanical failure in 3 years of racing it. You can not go wrong with this car. And the smiles per mile is like no other.

Check the classifieds section on this website, scroll down to the Viper Club of America link at the bottom of the page and go from there. E-mail the site sponsors and see what's in inventory.

I sold my highly modded low-mid 11's in the 1/4 mile, 1993 RX-7 for a 1996 Viper GTS....

I had the RX-7 for 5 years..... the longest I ever held on to a car.... thats how much I loved that car.... I have had the Viper about a year now....

from my experience, the RX-7's were not reliable over 400 rwhp..... and I wanted more power, and more reliability...

viper driving? all you need is fuel, oil, and tires.....

It really does seem to be a reliable car. I have a 96 GTS in the classifieds--let me know if I can help in any way.
