will a rear differentail from a Gen II Viper fit in my Gen I Viper?

hey guys-

i am looking for some technical advice. I am thinking of purchasing an item from a friend, but i want to check something first.

will a rear differentail from a Gen II Viper fit in my Gen I Viper? the rear end from the Gen II has 3.73 gears in it. will this affect me in any way?

I purchased a rear assembly from a friend of mine...it was a 97 gts.it bolted in the same with no problems.the only thing to be sure of is that the two holes are there for the tourque arm. gen II"s do not use an arm.but I believe the housings are unchanged to the present. as for 3:73:1 gears....it's a bit much for the track.talk about no traction!!!!! I have 3:45:1 and it seems to be a great gear.good luck
