amplifier power connection to battery

i have had lots of surging issues at low revs in my gts and have just discovered that a new amp has been fitted and the live is connected direct off the live terminal on the battery.
could this cause any motor problems ?

Remove it and take the car for a spirited drive. You will know quickly.

I have some aftermarket amps in my 2001 GTS that are powered directly off of the battery terminal. I have had no issues. You should make sure that there is a circuit breaker added as well.

I have a 500w amp connected directly to my battery with no issues. It's not an amp problem.

Shouldn't be a big deal, depending on the quality of the amps.
Any installer with more than a 7th grade education would have put an inline fuse in there.
