Car cut out at high rpm?

I thought I'd just throw this up here since I get a little worried when anything out of the ordinary happens. But today I had the A/C on (if that matters), and I got on it a bit and was at wot in 1st gear then went to 2nd and I was at about 5700rpm I think in 2nd about to shift and it felt like the car cut out and the rpms dropped and i had a afterfire. Common for me with no cats.

So I was like what the heck. I then of course proceeded to do a couple full 1/4 mile WOT runs and everything was fine. Car felt like it always does.

This road was pretty crappy and I'm wondering if I may of hit a bad spot during acceleration and spun the tires at high RPM and maybe hit the rev limiter? Or maybe a fluke occurance?

I'm not gonna worry about it to much unless it happens again.

Is the factory limiter set to 6250?
Could the tach be off a little?
Sounds to me like you may've hit the limiter.
No CEL? i don't think hitting the limiter will set a CEL.
