Hi,
I've notice some minor cracks in my front brake disk, they are about 0.5 inch long and running from inside to outside. Is this dangerous and must I replace the rotors?

Thanks

Cracks on the friction surface (front or back) that kind of make it look like a dry lake bed are relatively normal. Cracks that extend from one face to the opposite face can lead to the rotor coming apart.

Heat related hairline cracks will usually start in the pad contact area of the rotor. If they have not split too wide or run all the way to the outside edge of the rotor than it's still should be good especially if you are only using them on the street. Check both inside and outside surfaces. I am guessing it is not running all the way to the outer edge because you say it is only .5 inches long. The rotor radius is larger than that.
