Detroit Auto Show

Anyone going to the Auto Show this weekend. I am flying in from Virginia and wanted suggestions on things to do and see. Was hoping to go on a tour with the Illinois Viper Club but am not arriving until Friday evening. Any suggestions on places to go or to see. Thanks

I'll be there. Saturday morning going to a parts swap meet, Afternoon Auto Show. There is always the DC Museum. Friday will be the CAAP Tour, etc with the ILL Chapter.

I am former native Detroit area. Go to Opus 1 for dinner or a romantic dinner at the Whitley then go to Greek town and Greek town casino. Option: eat at one of the several Greek restaurants. Have "OMPAH" for Appetizer. Late late night/ early morming go for a Coney Island hot dog at Lafeyette Coney Island (not American which is next door)Its is on Lafeyette Ave. (Ask any Detroiter for directions)Have two with everything, a Labatts Blue and a bowl of bean soup. Have fun

suggestion for auto show go at the moment it opens 10am i think otherwise sat afternoons are nuts, been going at least 2-3 times a year for my 25years(free tickets or press passes). as for the Layfayette coney island (dont miss it) Detroit instituition. The Henry Ford(Greenfield Village, Dearborn) great displays including many cars including a Buggati Royale(1 of 6, 10-12 million dollar auto!), the limo JFK was shot in, The GT40 mark IV that won LeMans, amongst many others. If in Ypsilanti the RM auction people have a showroom there last time I was in they had a Tucker there! Sent you PM have many other suggestions, just let me know what area you staying and what you like to do. Mike

Go to Greek town for the BEST DEEP DISH CHICAGO STYLE PIZZA at "Pizza Pappolas". Better than the deep dish pizza we had in Chicago last summer!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I will definetely go the route of the Coney Island Dog, and the Show on Saturday looks like I will have to fight the crowds.

I'm going to the Montreal International Auto show this Saturday morning too. Have to wait for summer for the swap meets though.

Greek town, definitely go to Pizza Pappolas for the pizza.

Greek town, going for Greek food, specifically go to Olympias.

If you are bringing kids, definitely go to the butterfly exhibit at the Detroit Zoo even if that is all you go for and leave. That is awesome.

butterflys , its 10 degrees out. Personally Buddy's pizza is at the top of my pizza list and dont miss their minestrone soup.

Gotta second Pizza Pappolas. Their seafood deep dish pizza is to die for. And you will of arterial disease if you have it frequently!
