I don't think it requires the dealer to do anything but here it list of items of Mopar site that should be used with it.

Not for use by itself. Requires additional components for optimum effect.
Fuel and spark curves calibrated to manage the following components as an engineered package:

 P4876095 air filters
P5007362 or P5007584 smooth inlet hoses
 P5007049 race rocker arms
 P5007020 race headers
 P5007274 performance exhaust

Developed for SCCA World Challenge competition
Modified fuel cut-off strategies for maximum rpm and vehicle speed

97-00 R/T
96-00 GTS

Love the way it is no longer good for 01/02 cars. :(

Do you know why it won't work with 01/02 cars?I think it would since many people use 96 PCM in 01/02 Vipers.I have 2002FE so I hope it works.

what kind of gains do you get from all these mods and if you have a 2001/2002 what do you use if you cant use the mopar controller?

I think the gain are around 50hp.If this doesn't work.I'm going to buy an SCT or have DC Performance flash my PCM.

The 2000/2001/2002 cars are different motors than the 2000 and earlier. The early motors have forged pistons, the later ones are cast. The early ones have a bumpier cam with more overlap and the later ones are emissions calibrated.

Was under the impression it would not interchange but would be happy to know I am wrong! :)

Keep in mind Robert that all the Gen 3 and 4's have cast pistons and mopar makes a performance PCM for them. Personally I don't think you can beat a SCT and dc tune. I can paint a line on my temp gauge it never moves off 180 and come e test time I flash it back to stock, pass and put the tune back in after.

The main difference the PCM will see with the 01/02 cars is that the cam does not have as much valve overlap. I had put one in my car after getting the needed mods, but my aftermarket cam was too aggressive compared to even the 96-99 cam. You should be okay in your car. Your cam will just reduce the power gains a little bit as compared to the 96-99 cam.
