Explaining Viper things to you
Hi Dave. The changes are definitely for the better. The one thing I think you now need to reconsider is the word DODGE on the side of the car. It really takes away from the overall look and clean lines of the car. If someone does not know that a Viper is a Dodge, that person is too dumb or ignorant to be out and about unescorted.

A couple of points to the anti Dodge sticker crowd...

First off, I'm going for kind of a pseudo race car deco look. Soooooooo, there are the purists that think that's sacrilege, there are those that think because it's not a "real" race car it's rice, and I'm sure there are some that are just jealous that I thought of it first. Personally I like the look, but if I didn't, it's just vinyl and it does come right off.

Secondly, everyone that has seen the car in person has made positive comments to me about all the changes I've made including the white hood vents if you can believe that. It does look different in person, such as the fact the side splitters don't really show up well in the pics but the Dodge logo does. And they were meant to compliment each other.

Lastly Bob... If people around these parts are supposed to know my car is a Viper and it's made by Dodge or getTF outta town...? I'd have the whole city to myself! :lmao:

I just wonder what the heat will do to the vinyl on the side sill? If it contiually gets superheated, then cools, will it burn an image into the paint when you do want to remove them?

You don't think you're actually going to get honest negative opinions in person do ya? :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

OK dummy. You make me do this stuff.

Pic is side sill temp in summer heat measured right at the cat. Decal is in front of that at lower temp.

You must be registered for see images

Here is the link to the vinyl used. Continuous operating temp of 194 degrees F.

ORACAL USA : Products : ORACAL  751  High Performance Cast

For some reason people think that I don't think of everything. But I usually do.

Race cars, even pseudo race cars, don't have wheels that look that good. Now if you are looking for a racey artsy fartsy look, then I get the Century Village sized white letters used to say "DODGE" on the side sills. You never know when an elderly person with impaired vision is going to go by your car and say to his or her spouse: " Who makes that car - that Viper?" And the spouse then says: " What did you say?"

G'damn...lol. Note to self: Never challenge anything Dave has done/said. If Dave tells me UFO's are on his front lawn stealing his white hood vents, I'll tell him to watch out for the probes they're so notorious for.

Of course they would be on his front yard. Who do you think designed the latest UFO model? Dave is a rocket scientist. It is also a little known fact that he was born nine months after the great black out of 1965. This is when alien craft inadvertently brought down much of the Northeast power grid after leaving the vicinity of the place where Dave was conceived. One of the signs of species hybridization is the constant presence of beer. Just be careful at those Texas VCA meetings or ***** trouble.

You've got it all wrong. I'm actually increasing the value and desire of the car by reversing the slide of the market share from Dodge Trucks to Dodge Cars.

To really get a grasp on the concept you must first understand the basics of an economy where the automobile is such a dominant fixture. More specifically, where the pickup truck is the dominator.

But we've all seen the economy. People are ditching their trucks and buying cars for the fuel savings they offer. Truck sales are suffering, jobs are being lost, and dave6666 is starting a movement to reverse that.

Soon, you'll see Avengers and Neons with the truck logo on the side of their vehicle. Copying and mimicking what I have started in the Viper, but that's how movements get started, that's how they gain momentum.

It's all about exposure. Advertising. When people see the Dodge Truck logo **** by at 140 mph all the while ducking the empties being tossed out the window, there's only one possible reaction... Truck sales will go up cause baby I've gotta have me one of them!

So anyway, while ya'll fools are whining about my stickers I'm saving America.

I'm sold on this concept. I nominate Dave to be inaugurated tomorrow instead of Obama. Dave's plan to save the economy just makes sense to me.

Dave,

The wheels/brakes look awesome! I have to agree with some about the 'Dodge' decal, it doesn't look great, but I've only seen it from the low, side view. I'm thinking that if I saw it where the white stripes on the hood, the infamous white hood vents and the decal were all in the same picture...then it would look better.

jasontiff...neurotic it is. My opinion is that you shoudn't feel weird about taking a picture of a loved one...I mean your viper!

Car is absolutely stunning. Love the wheels.

Not to pile on, but I too, would lose the Dodge emblem or at least get a smaller one--it kinda overwhelms.

I am not sure it matters anyway. I remember having my Gen 1 Viper at a car show in 95 and a friend had his there as well. A guy came up looked at the rear bumper and said, "just what kind of Dodge Viper RT 10 is that". My friend said, "that is pretty much it.":)

Geez. Someone git the scraper out to take Mobil 1 off the side of the #91 car. Makes the car look cheap.

Or are we living in the world where double standards rule?

Man... That sticker is a honker compared to mine.

As one of the few guys on here who have seen the car in person, I can say that the sticker doesn't take away from it visually. Dave's car has white accents all over it and a problem with a photo is you don't see the other white when you have a side view. Between the infamous hood vents and the stripes, the Dodge is a subtle white accent that ties the visual cues from the front and rear to the sides.

I'll admit, from the profile the Dodge sticks out like a sore thumb; it's the only white thing on the side of the car amidst a sea of red and chrome. But when you can walk around the car in person it works.

Love the car and your awesome workmanship. But count me in on the Ditch the Dodge Division Decal Dave campaign.
