Mercedes is considering Bi-Turboed Viper V10 as an engine option on the new SL with 550HP.

I do not believe it's a Viper V-10 that are considering, but rather a smaller 5.something V-10 I'm sure someone that knows more than me will chime in.

Also what's a bi-turbo

I was told Mercedes considers the V12 to heavy for the new SL for best handleing performance, that is why they are considering the Bi-turbo Viper V10.

The "new" SL is already out and that isn't an option.

they make a 6 lire v-12, an 8.3 litre v-10 would most likely be too big.

I would be surprised if they put a pushrod engine on one of mercedes' flagship cars. If it was a v10, maybe it would be with a double overhead cam 40 valve engine, but the viper engine is just too crude for the mercedes. I like it crude, but I cant picture it in a SL.
