Belts should be changed on a frequency of much greater than that, like every 2 to 4 years, or 24K miles, and so on.

Change them. The rubber deteriorates over time without use.

Did I mention you should change them?

To many of us the unit of measure is not having had a failure and subsequently being able to discuss it later, but instead knowing that due to preventative steps we've never had that failure.

Very aware of tires and wires, just wondering if anyone has ever had a belt failure.

The way I look at it, the belts and hoses are made out of rubber, and have similar aging issues as the wires and tires. If the belt breaks or is thrown off, you have a big hassle even if you have AAA. Since I do my own work, replacing the belt is cheap insurance, or, if you don't do it yourself, it shouldn't cost too much to have it done when you get the wires done . (Yeah right)

And the belts are easy to get just about anywhere and they are fairly cheap, no Viper tax ! I think the last couple I bought were $26 each. I got them at the corner parts store.

Yep, I have had two belt failures. Appears the crank bolt got loose and caused an alignment problem. It was an easy fix. The guy on the board brought this to my attention.

Change it now and pay 12 bucks or try to find NAPA on the road 300 miles from house.
Hardly not worth the hazzle...or 12 bucks.
I change mine every winter.

Give me a second..... Are you also driving with original tires?
