Hi, as far as I know, Autoform is the only manufacturer approved for Viper Days events. I have one and I love it, a bit of disassembly is required, but it is a bolt on basicly. Find a local tuner/Viper tech to install it for you.

U following along? I am asking about the COUPE, which is different then the srt-10 convertible. Thats what i am asking, any COUPE specific roll bars available?

I had an autoform installed by a well respected company who everyone is familiar with. It doesnt fit and so far, they have been unwilling to do anything to remedy the situation. The top crossbars hit with the top up.
If you use Autoform, you better be sure yours has proper clearance before you accept the car. It seems not all respected installers handle problems the same way. I'm running out of patience as the install took place in April. I've been careful not to mention them publicly hoping they'll stand up to the issue and take care of it. PM me if you want more info.

Yes, and I was under the impression that Autoform made one for the coupe as well.

Unfotunetly they sure dont. I spoke to Tony from AF about 5 mins after I posted this question. He says as of right now, the srt-10 coupe doesnt have an AF version, because the srt-10 convertible version WILL NOT fit. It has many issues, apparently not even close. So I am talking to Tony about maybe bringing my car to MI and having him take a look at what is possible.

Apparently Viper Wizard tried to install an srt-10 convertible roll bar in a coupe and found out its not even close.

IT DOESN'T NEED ONE, there is already a steel "roll bar" in there, not sure how much roll protection it would be though.

Yeah Tony from AF said that it has a roll bar built in, just like the gen 2's do, but I'm curious if it will be an approved/allowed roll bar for track events. I'm going to call Wizard today and see if he has photos of what he removed on the coupe and hopefully took a few photos of the built in roll bar.

The problem is, if I get into doing Viper days (after I get the comp coupe oil pan installed), I can NOT run slicks unless I have a roll bar :( I REALLLLLLLLLLLLY want to see what hoosiers are alll about :)

the bar that is in the stock coupe roof is pretty substantial, it bolts into the exact brackets that the "style hoops" in the vert bolt into. My guess is that unless you get real high hp and drag racing in the below 10 sec. bracket you won't be required to have a rollbar. That said it is good piece of mind and cheap insurance to protect your mellon. Any car i have tracked(all convertables) i have added a formal rollbar for the obvious reasons. Most club track days, PCA, Viperdays and BMW club and most others will not require it unless you have a convertable or get invoved in the actual racing classes instead of the open track/driver education days.

Not all Drag tracks are not up to par on the Vipers, I can assure of that. So unless one has proof that an intigrated roll bar is incorporated into the design, they will not just take your word for it. These are typically simpler individuals who tech spec, and they arent looking to have their *** on the line, just because you tell them its got a hidden one built in. Seeing is believing to them.

Next, the gen 2 also had such a roll bar built in, but Viper dayz still wont let you run stickys on the track without a roll bar in a gen 2. I'm going to call Skip or Courtney or Tom now to verify.

Jon, what did they say?

Skip said I could run hoosiers on my stockers and be ok. He understood no roll bar is currently offered, so its not like I am trying to skate around a rule. The roll bar w/track tires rule cant be accomodated right now on a srt-10 coupe.

Guys,

are you seeing my posts?

John Archer makes a roll bar for the 2006 Viper Coupe!

I'm sure that Skip would know this...

www.archerracing.com

The roll bar is $2,000 and John says installation labor runs about $1,000 and it's a BOLT ON (not welded).

You would be wrong if you are sure Skip would know this... as I spoke directly with him, and he did NOT know that. But on a good note, I'd love to see the photos of the installed product, and some instructions .... know anyone who has done it?

I guess Skip is not as close to the tech inspections as others would be (Tom Sessions).

Just the same, I do not know if John has sold them without also doing the installation. But, at $1000 for installation (Archer's quoted labor amount), that's about 12 hours of labor, so, it seems to be quite a project.

I'm sure John Archer (try Jeremy for photos/details) can provide pics/details.

Hope that helps.
