Don't they say that it costs 1% of HP for every 10 degF of intake temperature, or something ridiculous like that...

So, with a nice and toasty 200 degF coming off the radiator and into those cones versus 80-100degf of summer ambient air that goes into the stock airbox that comes to at least 10% of 450 HP or 45 HP that those cones cost you...

Can that be right?

While at the Dyno this past weekend another viper was there
and he had a K&N airbox/cone filter/hard tube setup...

It was nice as it did have a air box that kept the hot air out
of the cone filters and worked well with the hood duct.

The box looked like it was carbon fibre and had hard tubes
connected to the engine intake.

I priced it out and it was around $500 for the airbox/hard
tubes and K&N cone filters...
Its in the K&N cataloge so anybody with K&N parts should be
able to order you one and its a very easy job to install...

Hope this helps some of you...

The only thing I have heard bad about cone filters is... you
dont' want to use them in the rain....

The guy did tell me there is a cover you can put on if you get
caught in the rain... so maybe no big deal with this setup

If you guys would pick up a racing catalog, those cone filters cost about 200 or so with the tubing and complete setup, and they're polished also. You can save a bunch of money.

I seem to remember much talk about this awhile ago on this board. If memory serves me, it was proven that a rain-baffle deleted factory airbox with K&Ns and smooth hoses was the best all around set-up. Someone posted an actual HP loss with the K&N airbox set-up.

Devin posted a great photo of one of the:

"Hot Air Induction Systems" for Show-Vipers.

--Turns a NACA duct into the worlds fastest bugcatcher.
--Turns the valley of the V-10 into the Valley Of The Bugs.
--Pressurizes underhood at speed, creating lift.
--Bends and compresses the air at the elbow.
--Evacuates hot air from behind the fan shroud, making the fan even more efficient. Unfortunately, that hot air goes WHERE?
