Wheel size question

I apologize if this has been answered but I could not find it. I just bought my first viper, a 1998 rt10 and wanted to look into new wheels and tires. I want to get something that fills out the wheel wells a little better than the factory 17's I see a lot of guys running 18" fronts and 19" rear on the gts's from later model year vipers. Can I do this on a rt10 or do you have to modify the suspension to keep the driveline angles? Or do I need to stay with the same diameter wheel all the way around?

18s front and 19s rear work well and NO driveline problems. Nothing more IMO

18x13 in rear (335's)
Eibach springs to lower the car and get rid of the "gap"...;-)

Changing the wheel size doesn't necessarily change the overall diameter of the wheel/ tire combo.

The most common Viper fitment (Gen 1-4) is 18x10.0 front w/ 285 tire, 19x12.5 or 19x13.0 rear w/ 345 tire.

Weirdest wheel set up. CCW wheels 18” upfront and 17” rear.

I understand the 18” upfront as a prior owner upgraded the brakes.

Can anyone guess why 17” were used in the rear other then the owner probably got a good deal.

Could have been because of tire choice maybe? I know that's still kinda weird, but I could see it. Kind of like how if you want drag tires you typically need an 18" wheel, so people with 19" stock rims will downsize for a drag tire. Could have just had to do with availability at the time too.

My guess is someone wanted better traction in the rear so they went with a smaller diameter wheel in the back to get more sidewall (the more sidewall, the better they hook).
Were there drag radials on those 17" rear wheels?

No street tires. I figured set up that way for a reason with 285/35 upfront instead of 275/35.
