Some unfortunate soul will get this car and find out it smells like a chainsmokers living room. Back then you had half the folks smoking in the Casinos and the cigarette smell would never come out.

I love the part about "On June 1st, 2002,IRL race driver Taylor Fletcher won this vehicle on a $5/15 minute investment at a nickel slot machine". Sure he won after spending $5 within $15 minutes, but what about the 1000's of people that played the game for the prior 6 years??

I also wonder how many people "won" the car before, but didn't have the cash on hand to pay the Tax fee that is due at the time of winning to take possession of the car? I saw a guy win a car once and later asked him about it and he said that he didn't have the money to pay the taxes, so he got a 10K ***** price instead of the 50K car.

Yeah anything you "Win" is going the get taxed atleast 30%. Which is a lot for what was probably about a 60K car that is already several years old.

I think its a bad thing the car sat around that much. 6 years or so without being drivin isn't great IMO. Maybe once a month they would start the car up in the Casino and let some of those chain smokers wrap thier mouths around the tailpipes!

I think I know a guy that is looking to buy it here. He has a two of the Bat Mobiles, and a ton of Movie cars from Triple X, FF, and random movies.

This shouldn't be worth any more than any other low mile first gen Viper. The provenance this car has isn't that extreme and the fact that it was in a movie is not that significant. If this was a world changing movie that might make some difference, but not this movie and not this car. It likely has a reserve reflecting its history and someone may actually step up and pay the price but long term, the value is not there.

That things been on ebay more than once. Apparently, at one time Fletcher was offering to give the car away to whomever could find him sponsorship for his race car.

Yeah I agree. I think its worth a little extra to the right person given the fact that it was in a movie, but I would probably dish out 40K if I had it laying around just to say its mine. I know a guy that has the Van from "School of Rock", and its a POS, but still pretty cool just to see him drive it and see people that actually recognize it.

Also I am only 27 years old, and remember watching "Vegas Vacation" with my mom and seeing the Viper just thinking....... DANG.... Someday....

But I got mine years later!!

Same here, our raffle rules are diffrent in the UK, if you win a car, you win a car that's it no Taxes

This has been discussed during every raffle. Take title to bank. Apply for loan for taxes (30k). Pretty sure most banks will loan $30k on a $100k car title. Or, sell car for $70k (it'll sell in under 12 hours). Pay $30k taxes, put $40k in your pocket

As for the car in the movie, it's prob worth a little bit more than your standard McV, but thats all in the eye of the buyer. I wouldn't think more than a few K extra.

Hi Guys,

I won that Viper in Vegas while I was just hanging waiting for the Sahara's Marketing Manager to try and get Sponsorship money for our Indycar team. Nickle Slot, playing 5 coins at a time. Funny....

Lots of misinformation here BTW.
No Tax due at the moment the vehicle was won. You simply add it in on your next years Tax return and the tax is based only on FMV at the time and it is paid when you file unless you happen to have any tax loss carry-forward.
Having an Indy car Team provides lots of Tax Loss - Ha ! ;-) So it was tax free !

FWIW, When you win a car in Vegas , they treat you like royalty. All expenses paid and also everything paid when you come back in month to pick it up to drive it home.

Long story but ask if you like. The Viper was sealed and all fluids drained when it goes on the carousel. After winning it they took it to the dodge dealer and spent over $5,000 replacing all the rubber and tires and put in all new fluids, new battery etc, etc Nope- No smoke smell !

Oh yeah... Kept it for 3 years for fun and then sold it to a nice gentleman in Michigan who was going to put it a car museum there... ( It also had a boat load of Movie memorabilia with it, script, cast info, autographs, etc , etc...)
