I purchased a 1997 GTS with ROE SC and VEC 2. I have the VEC2 software CD. Is there a way to copy the cars current tune from the VEC2? I don't have any smart cards and the previous owner passed away so I cant ask him any questions.
you will need to get a few smart cards and reader. You can pull the tune off/out of the Vec, but I don't think it would be transferable to a SCT or HP Tuners setup if that's what you are looking for. The Vec was a great way to tune back in the day, still is the only way to adjust the fuel injectors individually using the Stock PCM. Only other way is to do AEM, Haltec or Motec.
OK I just didn't know if it was possible to read the tune from the VEC2. I wanted to copy it to my computer incase anything happened to the VEC2 and to use it as a starting point if I decide to change anything.
If you copy the file to a laptop and edit it can you push it back to the VEC2 without a card? I see a serial port next to the VEC2 so I assume that is what I would use.

I think if you have a serial port it might be a Vec3, but yes if you can hook up to your computer, you should be able to download and read thru the tune. Before hooking up, I would definitely get a compatible smart card and load it on directly from the Vec. Just in case something happens.
I think you are correct about it being a VEC 3. I just read an old post from the previous owner that said he was going to "play with the new IAT feature of the VEC 3". Unfortunately the car only came with the VEC 2 CD. Any idea where I could get the VEC 3 software?
