Parking Brake Issue / Cost to replace?

To the dealership's defense, it really did sound like metal rubbing on a worn pad. I honestly thought it could have been the ebrake as well, and it did need changing anyway. I was surprised at the cost of them, though!

Parking Brake Issue / Cost to replace?

I know this is an old thread, but someone asked me about it. Turns out the issue was a bad differential. Dealer changed it out (under Maxcare warranty), and the car ran great.

    Viper for Vette

I don't think that's what he's saying at all. I think he's just saying that the name-dropping and credential waving that you do sometimes detracts from the information that you give (which I appreciate by the way, since it's mostly hard numbers that people can't deny). In the hands of an...

    Viper for Vette

You like them because they are rare and you get looks though, right? Even though the looks are from yourself :)? I love fast cars... all of them. You hit the nail on the head... buy them cause you like them. I know my wife wishes I liked only one car, but that unfortunately isn't the case!

    Viper for Vette

I can't speak for drag racing, but I know on a road course the C6 z06 holds it's own against a Gen III. Not only do I have friends that run against me, but I've also driven the Z06 on the track. It's fast, and those of you who think it's not are kidding yourselves. Like Kenric said, there's...

    Viper for Vette

I'm not so sure you'd be downgrading performance. Both cars are great, and if you were going to track it the Z06 has a better learning curve (not to mention that your roadster wouldn't be allowed at some events without a cage). What you WOULD be losing is any semblance of exclusivity. All...

    E-brake pads

Same thing happened with mine. Do what Daniel suggests, it helps. For those who think they'll just change the pads when the time comes... be prepared for a shocker. They are way more expensive than I thought compared to the regular brake pads!

    slightly off level steering wheel?

Strings are definitely better, but what made the difference here is that you were holding the steering wheel! The device they use to hold it does not work well. When I do my own alignments, after we change any of the settings, we roll the car back and forwards and re-center the wheel. Comes...

    slightly off level steering wheel?

What kind of alignment machine does he use? Lasers are notoriously off. Believe it or not, old school strings are more accurate. The lasers are rarely calibrated as often as they are supposed to be due to cost. What are the alignment specs you are trying to reach?

    slightly off level steering wheel?

Just get it redone. Like Marc said, doing the tie rods will fix it but only temporarily. You could be toe'd out in opposite directions, still drive straight, but your tires will wear very unevenly. If you have access to a 4 post lift, alignments are easy. Tie a string to the posts, square it...

    SRT Fog Light Access Panel

I got it from Tator as well. Use plastic interior fasteners (you can get them from autozone for $3), drill a hole through panel and wheel wheel, and put fastener in. No more lost panels!

Anyone running R888's on the track?

I have a pyrometer. Pressure seems to give OK readings at 42psi, but my inside/outside temps are too different (30 degrees). I'm wondering if less pressure would allow the tire to roll over more? I've already gone down to -0.7 camber, and am afraid to go lower.

Anyone running R888's on the track?

Couldn't PM using that name, says not valid. Is that Z (as in Zebra) S (as in Sam)? EDIT: Zed Sump, got it, I'll send him a PM. Thanks!

And the Viper Final Edition is....

Not as cool as the red/white final edition in 2002 imho. Looks kinda drab. I like double stripes, center stripe doesn't do it for me.

Anyone running R888's on the track?

I need some serious help with camber and pressures. I am getting a 30-40 degree temperature differential between the inside and outside of the tread. It should be 10 degree. Inside is hotter, indicating too much camber. I was running at 42psi. I decided 42psi based on one thread, but after...
